Motatapu 2025 – That’s a Wrap!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday and made it such an incredible day! The very first Motatapu was held in 2005 so you could say that this year we were celebrating our 21st birthday – and you guys made sure we did that in style!

Once again, some amazing stories unfolded out in the hills of Wānaka and Arrowtown as our hardy competitors conquered their goals and pushed their limits, watched over by a dedicated team of volunteers who were there to cheer everyone on and jump in whenever help was needed.  Whether it was a chance to experience the breathtaking Motatapu Valley for the very first time or seek redemption and the top step of the podium, we’re thrilled to be a part of your journey.

While you were out there doing the hard yards, we hope you could also enjoy a moment or two to take in the awe-inspiring scenery. We’re so lucky to have access to the Glendhu, Motatapu, Soho and Glencoe Stations for this one very special day of the year and would like to thank the generous landowners who make this happen. As well as a beautiful place, these high country stations are part of the largest conservation undertaking on private land in New Zealand’s history.

Once you’ve had a chance to rest the legs, and share your stories with friends, family and workmates, we hope you’ll be ready to join us again for another epic day of running, walking and biking for New Zealand’s biggest off-road sporting event. Motatapu 2026 will take place on Saturday 7 March and entries open on 1 July 2025 – mark the date in the diary!
